Biography

Deborah develops the strategies and financial mechanisms that help Nature United secure diversified and durable sources of funds to support ambitious Indigenous led conservation projects.  An investment professional, she joined Nature United’s global parent organization, The Nature Conservancy, in 2008 as director of Land Conservation and Finance to develop financial structures to support an ambitious grassland preservation campaign in Colorado.

In related roles, she worked with NatureVest and other business units to develop and implement new business models and investments in regenerative agriculture across the U.S. and Latin America. Her first assignment for Nature United in 2011 was to support the land use rights and forest management priorities of the First Nations in Clayoquot Sound, B.C.,

Prior to joining TNC, she held management roles with publicly traded institutional investors and banks for 20 years, including First Interstate Bank, Mutual of New York and Regency Centers.  She has contributed her leadership to various industry and local non profit organizations such as NAIOP, ULI and Colorado Headwaters Land Trust. She earned a Masters in Management from Northwestern University and a BA from The Colorado College.

An avid winter and summer backcountry enthusiast, Deborah enjoys exploring the Rocky Mountains around her home in Colorado.
