Biography

John Honderich’s distinguished career in journalism includes serving as the Publisher of the Toronto Star from 1994 to 2004. Joining the paper in 1976, Mr. Honderich also served as a reporter, Bureau Chief and Editor at the Star. In addition to his newspaper work, he served as Special Advisor to the Premier of Ontario on the future of the Greater Toronto Area and Creative Cities, the Attorney General's panel on Justice and the Media, and as the Toronto Mayor's Special Ambassador on Urban Issues. Mr. Honderich studied at the London School of Economics and authored Arctic Imperative, which laid out some of the great dangers faced by Canada’s North. He was appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada and the Order of Ontario and was inducted into the Canadian News Hall of Fame.
